None of that was happening. Four years later, she tried again with The Hideaway, in Parkchester. After laying low and renting the warehouse out for big blowouts only, de Jesus in September found her bar unfairly entangled in a grisly crime when members of the Hollywood Stuntz gang dropped in during an event she was hosting.

It really was on the same level, a real underground dancers place. But when the Warehouse started people would come from all over. Most of their clubs had closed down and they were looking for a new home. I think for the gay crowd, having the Warehouse was like having the Garage or Better Days back.

Before Loughran, there was Audrey de Jesus. It died two years later. She tried again, then again, with the same result. De Jesus remembers one other gay bar in the borough during her decade of ventures: Victor and Victoria, whose lifespan reached a comparatively impressive four years, according to de Jesus.
